NENA 2007 Public Education GroupThe National NENA Conference was held in Charlotte, NC the week of June 11, 2007.  Featured in the program are local 9-1-1 public education specialists and emergency dispatchers.

The course presented was "Teaching Your Local Community About 9-1-1" which highlighted that many of the hundreds of thousands of calls received at 9-1-1 centers are young children.  Conversely, many elderly people don't feel they have a "real" emergency.  Letting our community know we offer classes about 9-1-1 is difficult but not impossible.  They presented techniques on how to get classes scheduled, and methods to teach both children and the elderly.

If you have a need for 9-1-1 eduction in your workgroup, school or program contact your local dispatch center for guidance on what class will suit your needs.
