The Police Department takes great pride in making the Town one of the safest communities along Colorado’s Front Range. Emphasizing education and crime prevention, we've seen the number of major crimes in Castle Rock decline since 2000, despite doubling in population and a slowing economy over the same period.
The Department is divided into three divisions: Administration, Operations and Support Services. The Department’s 73.5 employees include 52.5 sworn and 21 civilian personnel, as well as K-9 units (Jax and Kuno and their handlers), Community Policing, an Emergency Response Team and Investigations. Marked and unmarked vehicles as well as motorcycles patrol the Town.
The Castle Rock Police Department enforces the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the constitutional rights of all persons. It is not the role of the department to legislate, to render legal judgment or to punish.
In a 2005 citizen survey, 84 percent of respondents rated Castle Rock police services as "excellent" or "good," and the Town has made it a priority to maintain its commitment to public safety.
